On handle tabs, the traditional LV Speedy should have 5 stitches across the top/ bottom and 4 up the sides. The stitching on a Louis Vuitton should always be neat and even. For example if your date code said “FC0112” then the outer tab should read ‘made in USA’ if the code inside referred to USA and the outer tab said ‘made in France’ then you know it is a fake bag. Remember: The lettering on the date code should match the country listed on the outer tab. (you take the first and third for the week and the second and fourth for the year) With the new bags the numbers refer to the week and the year the bag is made (rather than the month) so “MI4134” will mean the bag was made in France in the 43rd week of 2014. Recently however they have changed their dating system so if your buying a newer bag the date codes are slightly different. You take the first and third digit as the month: 01 means January and you take the second and forth digit as the year: 01 means 2001Įxample II, “LA0999” means the bag is made in USA in 09 (September) in the year 1999 (take second and last digit 99 meaning year 1999) Germany: LP This is how you should read date codes:Įxample I, Serial number “SP0011” means the bag is made in France and it was made January, 2001. These are some of the letters that refer to where the bag was made (this is not a complete list as only LV have that information but these are the main ones)įrance: A1, A2, AA, AO, AC, AN, AR, AS, BA, BJ, CT, DU, ET, FL, FR, MB, MI, NO, ND, RA, RI, SD, SL, SN, SP, SR, TH, VI, VR The first two letters tell you the country where the bag was made and the numbers tell you the month and year it was manufactured Date codes since the 90’s consists of two letters followed by four numbers.
